Welcome to episode 25 of the Unstoppable Podcast! Today I am delighted to welcome Vince Del Monte to the show!
Vince Del Monte was nicknamed ‘Skinny Vinny’ all through high school and University and he never weighed more 149 pounds (68kg). Whilst he initially turned his physique into his advantage through endurance sports and even represented Canada in the Triathlon, he dreamed of being able to add real muscle to his body.
After University Vince began his career in the fitness industry as a personal trainer. Shortly after beginning his journey Vince found a mentor who introduced him to a world of bodybuilding that he had NEVER read about in the magazines or websites and within 24 short weeks Vince had gained 41 pounds of muscle naturally and by spending only 3-4 hours of training per week.
In 2006, Vince released No Nonsense Muscle Building where he shared his natural approach to building muscle for skinny guys. He wrote the book so that other skinny guys could avoid all the bad information and mistakes most guys make when the get started. The book was a hit with over 100k downloads in a short period of time.
Since 2006, Vince has built a phenomenal, highly profitable online business and helped thousands of guys and gals go from skinny to buff. He has over ¾ million followers on facebook and nearly a ¼ of a million subscribers on youtube with nearly 50 million views since 2008 – not forgetting to mention his substantial email list and other social channels. Not only has Vince built an extremely successful business he has also crafted an enviable lifestyle, all whilst spending quality time with his wife and young family.
His primary goal is to help 1,000,000 skinny guys by the year 2020. If you are interested in transforming your body and your life, Vince is your man for some serious muscle-building tips.
In today’s show we focus on Business and Vince openly shares the difference that has made the difference for him and his business as he approaches the 10 year anniversary of his original signature ‘No Nonsense Muscle Building’ product. Despite his significant following, Vince attributes his success to creating high converting offers that ensure his followers become loyal, raving fan customers.
Get ready to learn how to learn how to radically grow your online business – I am honoured to introduce Mr Vince Del Monte!
In this episode you will learn
- The importance of focus in creating a wildly profitable online business
- How to identify your most profitable customers
- How to monetise your audience
- How to scale your business to six figures and beyond
- How to discover your superpower
- How to create high converting offers
- How to utilise the power of syndication to dominate your market
Focus – double down on one market place. I teach skinny guys how to train to build muscle – my message is based on my own transformation. Start by solving one persons problem – e.g the guy who’s crying at night because his arms are too much.
Build relationships – solve a single specific problem. Nobody cares about your lifestyle, develop relationships first by solving problems. All Vince’s videos are based on problems that people are looking for solutions for. Get focused on your audience – not all clicks are created equal – Target people who are in pain – give away free information – invite people into your world and make offers based upon the specific problem.
Audience building – Don’t get hung up on audience size – get clear on what your monetisation strategy is. One of Vince’s closes friends has 2.5m YouTube subscribers, 1m Instagram followers – in a market where it is hard to get subscribers BUT has NO sales strategy. To monetise you have to polarise – don’t swim on the surface, scuba dive – find a narrow audience. Only after a period of time once you have a relationship with your audience you can expand your offers.
You have to appreciate where you are RIGHT NOW – a lot of people want to skip steps. It took Vince 2 years before Vince could quit his job and go full time online. Get focused on where you want to be in a year from now. For most people any further than this is overwhelming
Scale – the Internet provides the greatest opportunity for scale. Forget audience, focus on customers – create a converting offer using direct response strategies. Traffic is everywhere. The key to success is being good enough at what you do but to be even greater at marketing.
Visionary vs integrator? When you hit 7 figures you cannot be both – you need a team. Everyone has millionaires of ideas – the integrators will help you find the top 1-3 ideas – identify the ideas that will exponentially move your business if you execute them well (not quickly, well). Create a ‘backlog’ – your whiteboard or google document with all your ideas for the future.
Finding your superpower – You do NOT need to do a lot of things to be successful. Vince’s superpower is being the face of the brand and building the following – it’s normal to do everything yourself for the first 2-3 years but as soon as you can outsource you need to do it to scale. You have to earn the progression.
Creating a profitable business – It’s not the size of the audience that matters, it’s attracting the right customer. Don’t focus on attracting an audience, focus on attracting customers.
Focus on creating a sales page that coverts – long form sales letters or VSLs In the online world no one has a 7, 8, 9 or 10 figure business without long form sales letters – you have to study sales copy. If you do not have an offer whilst makes you money whilst you are sleeping then you are not focusing on the right things. ‘You are one sales funnel away from $1million dollars’
Inner game – If you are experiencing fear then it means that you are on the right track. It’s ok to have butterflies just make sure they are flying in formation.
It’s better to get a personal best in the ‘fast’ race than to win the ‘slow’ race – Seeing others overtake and outsucceed you weighs upon your mind but you cannot look at others as competiton, you can’t let your fears and doubts get in the way – there is enough out there for everybody. People openly sharing their financials means you are constantly chasing the next level and questioning what you are doing but do you want to win the slow heat or get a personal best? It’s better to come last in the ‘fast’ race and get a PB than to win the ‘slow’ race.
Building a network is EVERYTHING. “You have to pay to play”! Information is not enough, transformation is what is required. You need a coach. You have to have skin in the game. Invest in yourself. When your business stalls it is because you have lost contact with people. Get around people who are killing it – it expands your mind, it expands your action, it gives you ideas and raises your game. Go to the big ticket events – get around the top players.
Create a syndicate – You do not need to have relationships with the top people – find 3-4 people who are on the same level as you right now. Your mission is to conquer the world. Your job is to promote each other relentlessly until we become world dominators!
Advanced responsibility – you make no excuses and you look to maximise the value of your time. The difference between successful and unsuccessful people – when a successful person buys a book they focus on finding the one piece of advice that will help them build their business, the unsuccessful person focuses on finding the cheapest copy of the book.
If Vince was to start again right now so everything he knows now…he would focus on a high converting offer and paid traffic
The most game changing advice Vince ever received…’successful people have developed the habits of doing the things that unsuccessful people don’t like doing’
What does being unstoppable mean to Vince – “Taking advanced responsibility and eliminating all excuses”
